Sketch Book Work

Moving Swiftly Along..

Okay, so dance has turned into puppets!
The Sound of Music was my inspiraion for this, and the Diet Coke ads contributed a lot to it too.
What I liked about the the puppet idea, was that it was movement but controlled. Almost the opposite of my anti gravity idea. I tried to find as many pictures as possible to do with puppets/ marionetts, and stick em up on my wall and let the memory bank take them in.
Hopefully, this will get the brain cooking, and might spew some ideas out.
Well, I tested him out in paper first, but I dont think that he's heavy enough, probably try fabric.
Tried fabric, but also not heavy enough. Read somewhere that you need to weigh down the hands and fee t to make it work.

Also have to fix the strings, that's another problem.

Movement and Motion : First project

Alright, so I realise I'm starting a bit late, but sure how bad, better late than never :)
The first things that popped into my mind when I heard this title, were the usual, run of the mill ideas. Sports, Dancing, Transport, etc. But since I had some history with Dance, I decided to use that as a starting point.
While I was doing research (yay Google images), what I found I liked a lot was that in each style of dancing they had different outfit. And each outfit had different material, like ballet had tutus and contemporary dance had more flowing material. This kind of started me off connecting the dotts and I found that as well as dance, movement in itself, I wanted to try something with material too.
What I noticed in a lot of the pictures I found, that in the pictures with the jumps and lifts, the dancers looked as if they were floating. as if there was nothing holding them to the ground, like gravity had no effect on them.
So, as difficult as it may turn out to be, I want to incorporate all of these 3 ideas into something.
Not sure what yet, but finding out is half the fun.
